Road Trip Fever

Lately, an old-fashioned road trip - the kind where you pile the fam in a car, load up a cooler full of cold drinks, pile in the blankets and duffel bags and head to a natural park or historical destination of choice - has been sounding pretty good.
When you're trapped in a car with an incontinent 20-month-old who likes nothing more than dancing and moving, however, the best we might be able to do is not Utah (as seen in this picture, and one of my favorite road trip destinations) but Julian or Idyllwild.
Both spots are lovely little mountain getaways here in Southern California, and perfect for urban San Diegans.
We may just need to plan a trip. The seas of change are upon us.
